Ameriplan® has made an official change to it’s corporate name. Ameriplan®’s name used to include the the name USA after it’s trademark name. However, effective this month, Ameriplan® has shortened it’s name to just the base Ameriplan®. We think this is a positive move. It shortens the brand name and makes it more recognizable. This helps the brand image.

According to the kaisernetwork.org story many low income children do not receive basic dental care because it is either un-affordable, or the State Medicaid programs don’t pay for it. There is also a shortage of dentist willing to accept the beneficiary patients.

However, Ameriplan® can help with this situation. Ameriplan® has over 30,000 dental providers in our network willing to provide dental care a major discounted prices for our customers. President Bush has proposed treating employer insurance as income. This is his idea and way to level the increase the tax revenue at the Federal level - to pay for something. And that something is assistance for the poor to get insured. It seems to be a little more of the Federal Government playing Robin Hood again. However, the President also wants to make the cost of buying the health insurance tax deductible at up to $15,000.

While this seems like a reasonable goal, it may not be the best solution, and is sure to get opposition from both houses of Congress.
