Health Products & Services, owner of an Ameriplan® IBO has announced their 2nd quarter earnings. Revenue increased 10.2% but net income fell 23% to $0.50 per share compared to $0.65 per share for the same quarter last year.

The disappointing results were summed up by HP&S CEO, “We are happy with the increased sales, but income fell due to the fact that our discount benefits business is experiencing increased competition, some negative press, and is down over 60% from last year in new sales. The increase revenue has come from the eCommerce division which has much lower margins, and this was compounded by the need for increases in Ameriplan® advertising and website development. We don’t expect this trend to end this year either. We will keep investing heavily in website development and new ventures to grow this business. We’re just going through a downturn that will reverse course, eventually.”

Herbalife has signed David Beckham to a $20 Million contract for his jersey sponsorship! Herbalife is trying to capitalize on the buzz surrounding the soccer star’s arrival to the US to play in the MLS. The sponsorship is off to a great start with Herbalife getting some free advertising out of Beckham’s jersey. He was on the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine of the July 16 issue and Beckham is wearing a jersey with Herbalife on the front.
