Health Savings Accounts in the News Again

April 12th, 2006

This morning’s CNBC Squak box segment (April 11, 2006) featured a long discussion on health savings accounts. One of the most interesting points was made by a CEO who favors their use. In response to critics who say HSA’s will serve as an excuse for corporations to stop providing health care benefits to their employees, he said his company hasn’t lowered their burden at all.

He countered with the fact that the free market place will drive companies to remain competitive by offering benefits that attract the most talented workforce. It will remain to be seen how companies respond to the growing use of HSA’s.

April 10th, 2006

Ameriplan®’s customer retention rate is and has consistently been over 90%. This is due to great customer service and a high value added product. Our medical program and Ameriplan® Dental & Ameriplan Health® discount plans offer customers great savings against rising health care and dental care costs. So, typically after customers save money, they keep the service for future savings. People will always need to see the doctor, buy a prescription, or see their dentist.

Health Plans get Strict on Payments

April 8th, 2006

Major Health Insurance Companies are starting to get tough on patients who don’t pay their fair share of the bills. Companies such as United Health Group have set up automatic payment options for patients. They pay the medical bill 100%, then charge the patient the co-pay.

However, the percentage of patients who fail to pay cause large collection costs for these companies. The insurers are starting to do several things. These solutions include making it easier to understand bills, make it more convenient to pay, offering auto-pay programs, and financing plans.

Of course, with Ameriplan Health® discount plan, these issues and costs are not an issue. The bureaucracy is reduced, these costs are driven out of the system, and patients pay at the time of service, with cash.

April 8th, 2006

One of the big advantages of the Ameriplan® independent ownership program is the access you get to their great Customer Relationship Management Software - Earnware. This is a subcontracted out IT system that allows very efficient management of all of your customers.

We have increased our customer service and customer satisfaction a great deal by utilizing the CRM Ameriplan® provides. Earnware automatically takes care of new customers by sending automated emails to them. These emails teach customers about how to get the most out of their membership, and in turn customers use the discount plan more often than they normally would. In turn, our Ameriplan® customers are more satisfied, and our retention of customers, and therefore, residual income is higher.

When to Start Flossing?

April 7th, 2006

This is an interesting subject in the dental field. I have learned that the usual time to start flossing is perhaps a year after all teeth are in place. This puts the age at about 3 or 4. Consult your dentist for a definite answer. All children are different, and teeth and gum development are all unique for different children.
